CANU DISCOVERS 63 LBS. OF CANNABIS WITH A STREET VALUE OF APPROXIMATELY GY $ 11.5 MIL.

On the 19th of April 2023, CANU officers conducted an operation at Tuschen New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo that resulted in the seizure of twenty-three (23) brick-like parcels suspected to contain cannabis. 

The suspected narcotic was tested and weighed, and it was discovered to be imported cannabis (known as creepy) with a total weight of approximately 63 lbs. (24.8 kgs), with a street value of approximately GUY $11.5 M 

Investigations are ongoing. 

CANU continues to work with other law enforcement agencies to stem the flow of narcotics in and out of the country while maintaining an effective presence at the various points of entry / exit.
