Trial Update: Joel Leander, Satrohan Hardowar, and Lorna Scott-Williams Please be informed that on Wednesday, 13th August 2025, Joel Leander, SatrohanHardowar, and Lorna Scott-Williams appeared before Magistrate George at the LeonoraMagistrate’s Court in relation to the offence of possession of 5.442 kilograms of cocaine for thepurpose of trafficking. Lorna Scott-Williams and Satrohan Hardowar both pleaded not guilty andwere remanded to prison pending trial. However, Joel Leander pleaded guilty and was sentencedto five (5) years’ imprisonment along with a fine of GYD $8,163,000.  In relation to a separate charge involving the possession of 3.592 kilograms of cocaine forthe purpose of trafficking, Lorna Scott-Williams also appeared before Magistrate George at theLeonora Magistrate’s Court, where she pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded to prisonpending trial.   Lorna Williams has a prior history of narcotics offences. In October 2015, she, her husband,and three (3) others were charged with trafficking 3.840 kilograms of cocaine and 36.5 grams ofcannabis, during which large sums of local and foreign currency were seized. In July 2017, she andher husband, Gordon “Monkey Harry” Williams, were convicted. He was sentenced to seven (7)years in prison and fined $30,000, while she received a three (3) year prison sentence and a similarfine for trafficking narcotics.
