CANU DISCOVERS 12 LBS. OF CANNABIS WITH A STREET VALUE OF APPROXIMATELY GYD $ 1.8 MIL

On the 25th of March 2023, CANU officers intercepted a male carrying a haversack on Zeeburg Public Road. A subsequent search of the said haversack was conducted in the presence of the individual, which revealed five (5) brick-like parcels suspected to be cannabis.

Andy Jainandan, 30 years, of Parika, East Bank Essequibo was cautioned, arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters along with the suspected narcotic. The narcotic was tested and weighed, and it was discovered to be imported cannabis known as “poppy” with a total weight of approximately 12 lbs.(5.366 kgs) and a street value of approximately GYD $1.8M.

Investigations are ongoing.
