AN ACT to make provision with respect to the control of the possession of, and trafficking in, narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and cultivation of certain plants and for matters connected therewith. 1. This Act may be cited as the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act. 

The Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act has been amended to make it unlawful to possess designer drugs like ecstasy, methamphetamine, and other similar substances.This was done to make sure that anyone found in possession of these drugs would face charges and legal action.The amendment aims to regulate the use and possession of new and emerging psychoactive substance , also known as “designer drugs.”

The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control (Amendment) Bill of 2021 amendment permits persons found in possession of 30 grams or less of cannabis to no longer face prison time.
