CANU Seizes Ecstasy Pills in Berbice Narcotics Operation

• On Tuesday, June 4, officers from the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit, acting on information
received, conducted an operation near a popular bar in Skeldon, Berbice. 

 • A search was conducted of the surrounding area and in an alleyway near the location, which
led to the discovery of a bulky red plastic bag containing a quantity of pills suspected to be
ecstasy. 

 • The suspected ecstasy pills were taken to the CANU Berbice Office, where it was counted
and weighed, totalling 700 pills, with a combined weight of 600 grammes. 

 • One person is currently in custody assisting with the investigation. 

 • The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit remains committed to disrupting the illicit drug trade and
urges members of the public to continue providing credible information to aid in the fight
against narcotics trafficking.
