On Monday, 11th August 2025, CANU Officers, acting on information received, conducted an operation along Parika Public Road, East Bank Essequibo, where they intercepted a motor car and discovered several parcels containing a whitish powdery substance suspected to be cocaine. 

A subsequent follow-up operation at the suspect’s residence uncovered one (1) 5.32 Taurus pistol with a magazine containing fourteen (14) .22 rounds, along with several black bags containing an additional quantity of suspected cocaine. Four (4) suspects were arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters, along with the suspected narcotic, which tested positive for cocaine and weighed a total of 9.034 kilograms.
