On Sunday 7th July 2024, CANU Officers conducted an operation in the Stanleytown, New Amsterdam area, where they intercepted a motor car. A subsequent search of the motor vehicle revealed two (2) large bulky brick-like parcels with a quantity of leaves and stems suspected to be cannabis. Staffon Caesar, age twenty-five (25), a taxi driver of Gangaram Settlement, Canje Berbice, Mark Boyles, age twenty-four (24), a clothes vendor of Stanleytown New Amsterdam, Berbice and Shawn Hercules, age twenty-two (22), a farmer of Kimbia, Berbice River were arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters along with the suspected cannabis which tested positive for cannabis and weighed 9.790kgs.
Investigations are ongoing.
