On the 18th of September, 2023, CANU officers conducted an operation at a location situated in Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje Berbice. A subsequent search of a wooden building located at the said location led to the discovery of several parcels of suspected cannabis.
A further search was conducted, which led to the discovery of a quantity of cannabis on a boat that was docked in a canal situated on the opposing side of the wooden building.
The narcotic was transported to CANU Headquarters, Georgetown, where it tested positive for cannabis, with a total weight of approximately 23.4 kg (almost 51.6 lbs.).
An individual has been detained and is currently assisting with the ongoing investigations.
