CANU ARRESTED MAN WITH 72.2 GRAMMES OF CANNABIS Date: Friday 1st March, 2024 Please be informed that on today’s date, Mitzroy Dash appeared before Magistrate Sam at the Charity Magistrate’s Court, where he was found guilty for the offence of trafficking in narcotic to wit 2.4 kilograms of cocaine.Dash was sentenced to three (3) years imprisonment and fined Two Million One Hundred Sixty Thousand Dollars (GY$2,160,000).

CANU DISCOVERED APPROXIMATELY 10.8 KG OF CANNABIS On the 23rd December, 2023, CANU Officers conducted an operation in the vicinity of James and Hill Streets, Albouystown. During the operation, Officers observed a male carrying a bag. Upon noticing the CANU Officers, the individual quickly fled into an empty lot in the vicinity of James and Hill streets, where he abandoned the said bag and made good his escape.A thorough search of the empty lot led to the discovery of the said bag, which contained four (4) parcels of suspected cannabis.The narcotic was escorted to CANU’s Headquarters, where it tested positive for cannabis with a total weight of 10.8 kg (approximately 24.5 lbs.) with a local street value of approximately GUY $3.3 M.Investigations are ongoing.

CANU DISCOVERED MAN WITH CANNABIS On 21st December 2023, CANU officers conducted an operation between Adventure, and Good Hope, Essequibo Coast where they intercepted a motor car. A subsequent search of the said motor vehicle was conducted in the presence of the driver which led to the discovery of a quantity of suspected cannabis, and the arrest of another suspect.Mitztroy Dash, 42 years of Good Hope Essequibo and Rayborn Gordon, 32 years of lima sand, Essequibo were arrested and escorted to CANU’s headquarters along with the suspected cannabis. The narcotic tested positive for cannabis and had a total weight of 2.4 kg, with a street value of approximately GUY $1M.Investigations are ongoing

CANU DISCOVERED ECSTASY PILLS On 20th December 2023, CANU Officers conducted an operation at Dennis Street ‘C’ Field Sophia. During the operation, they intercepted and searched a male individual, which led to the discovery of a quantity of pills suspected to be ecstasy.Joshua Josiah Mentore, 23 years, of Patterson, Georgetown, was arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters along with the suspected narcotic. The pills tested positive for ecstasy with a total weight of approximately 34 grammes. There was a total of eighty (80) pills.Investigations are ongoing.

mAN SENTENCED TO THIRTEEN Weeks IMPRISONMENT WITH A FINE OF APPROXIMATELY GY $5 m. On 25th Aug, 2023, Richey Sewadhan, appeared before Magistrate Azore, at the Cove and John Magistrate’s court, where he faced charges related to the possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking. Sewadhan was found guilty and sentenced to thirteen (13) weeks imprisonment with a fine of approximately GY $5 M. Sewadhan was arrested on 29th July 2021, in Paradise village, East Coast Demerara, when CANU Officers intercepted a vehicle, he was travelling in and discovered approximately 12.8 kg (28 lbs.) of cannabis in his possession. Investigations are ongoing.

trio sentenced, fined $5.1M for possession of cocaine Please be informed that on today’s date, Lena Narine, Earl Branch, and Sherlan Edmondson appeared before Magistrate Anita Singh at the Georgetown Magistrate Court, charged with the possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking. They were found guilty and sentenced to two (2) years imprisonment with a fine of approximately GUY $1.7M.Narine, Branch, and Edmondson were arrested on January 27, 2023, at Prasad Nagar in Georgetown, when CANU Officers discovered approximately 1.050 kg (about 2.3 lbs.) of cocaine with a local street value of approximately GUY $ 1.1 M.

Sheet Anchor man held over ganja On the 18th of September, 2023, CANU officers conducted an operation at a location situated in Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje Berbice. A subsequent search of a wooden building located at the said location led to the discovery of several parcels of suspected cannabis.A further search was conducted, which led to the discovery of a quantity of cannabis on a boat that was docked in a canal situated on the opposing side of the wooden building.The narcotic was transported to CANU Headquarters, Georgetown, where it tested positive for cannabis, with a total weight of approximately 23.4 kg (almost 51.6 lbs.).An individual has been detained and is currently assisting with the ongoing investigations.
