TRIAL UPDATE: CURTIS BOSTON Please be informed that on today’s date, Curtis Boston appeared before Magistrate Mc Gusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded guilty to the offence of possession of 9.426 kgs of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking. He was sentenced to three (3) years imprisonment and fined GYD$30,000.

CANU Intercepts Vehicle with 9.4 Kilograms of Cannabis on Vlissengen Road On Saturday, 17th May 2025, CANU Officers, acting on information received,conducted an operation on Vlissengen Road, Georgetown, where they intercepted amotor car. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed several parcels containing aquantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis. • The suspects were arrested and escorted to CANU headquarters along with thesuspected narcotic, which tested positive for cannabis and weighed 9.426 kilograms. • Investigations are ongoing.

A subsequent search of the residence revealed a parcel containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis. • Elton D’ Aguair was arrested and escorted to the CANU Lethem Office along with the suspected narcotic, which tested positive for cannabis and weighed 1.6 kilograms. • Investigations are ongoing.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed four (4) parcels containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis. Gavin Dowden was arrested and escorted to CANU headquarters along with the suspected narcotic, which tested positive for cannabis and weighed 1.042 kilograms. Investigations are ongoing.

Two Suspects in Custody On Friday, 16th May 2025, CANU Officers, acting on information received, conducted an operation in the vicinity of the Royal Hotel on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, where they intercepted two (2) individuals. A subsequent search of the suspects revealed eight (8) parcels containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis, and a firearm (CZ pistol) with nineteen (19) live rounds. • The suspects were arrested and escorted to CANU headquarters along with the suspected narcotic, which tested positive for cannabis and weighed 3.810 kilograms. • Investigations are ongoing.
